UK & Ireland launch 2023 inaugural RS21series

The newly formed UK & Ireland RS21 Class Association has an exciting inaugural racing circuit planned for 2023, which will showcase the one-design sportsboat’s International Status with World Sailing. To provide value for money and ensure vibrant socials, the events are integrated into a bigger regatta wherever possible. The season comprises four UK and Irish events, culminating in the World Championship in Sardinia, Italy, which has already attracted many professional and amateur international competitors.

The circuit begins with the Royal Lymington YC Sunday Spring Series in April, serving as a warm-up for the Bank Holiday Scottish Series in Tarbert at the end of May. The season then moves to Dun Laoghaire Regatta in July, followed by the highlight of the UK & Ireland circuit for 2023, the four-day National Championship hosted by Lymington Town Sailing Club in early August. This event is timed to coincide with the end of Cowes Week and provides international teams with an opportunity to assess the competition ahead of the World Championships at the end of September.

Following the UK Nationals, focus for many will move to Europe, with the Italian National Championship in Riva del Garda at the end of August before crossing the Tyrrenhian Sea for the World Championship hosted by the Yacht Club Porto Rotondo in Sardinia.

The final circuit event of the season sees the RS21 fleet join Hamble River Sailing Club’s One Design Championship in October, with the fleet also participating in the winter series running into December.

The Association has launched its new website, where all event details and dates can be found. Visit www.rs21ukclass.org to learn more. Overall, the circuit promises to be an exciting season of racing for RS21 sailors, with a variety of challenging events in stunning locations, culminating in the prestigious World Championship in Sardinia.
